Shows Huntington Who Let the Hogs Out!
Wed, Sept 23, 2004

Within the glamorous and upscale setting of the renowned Huntington Townhouse hundreds of local business owners came from near and far. The Huntington Chamber of Commerce’s Annual B2B Trade Show once again became the highlight event of the season displaying nearly 100 companies from Huntington & the greater New York area. Confirming the Chamber's tradition of positively stirring business activity, each vendor had only positive remarks about the layout, the location and especially the turnout.

As expected, this trade show was a contest for the attendee’s attention. From the display concept, to the lighting, to the giveaways, right down to the polished sales dialogue selected, it was evident in each and every booth that all vendors put their most competitive foot.

Booth #402, home of Image Interactive for the day, was no exception.

Image Interactive took the road of least resistance to gather maximum attention. Making a late decision to participate, and with only a week to prepare, Image Interactive decided to throw caution to the wind and implement an unusual eye-grabber with a surprisingly POTENT response level. This “top secret weapon” was an attention-getter from the cutting of the ribbon to the final stages of cleanup.

The expansive Huntington Townhouse parking lot overflowed with high-priced SUV’s and Luxury lease cars as attendees left the starting breakfast and rounded the spiral staircase to the exhibit hall. The elegant locale confirmed the theme of a power breakfast with high expectations. Visitors and Vendors alike carried a heightened anticipation for this highly promoted event.

As is the tradition, the Ribbon was ceremonially cut! Strategically positioned inside the expanse of the great hall were nearly 100 booths ready to meet their first potential client while the crowd floods in. The exhibitors waited just a few moments more as the attendees determined which way to go.

It was a strange yet compelling “OINK OINK OINK”-that drove traffic to the 400 aisle. That same sound produced the first of many giggles that continued throughout the day.

The attendees were given their opportunity to meet Chubby… a battery-operated, walking, tail wiggling and snorting “9” inch furry PIGLET. His vivid TYE-DYE colorings added to the visual impact while his snorting drew inquisitive eyes from within earshot.

“We sell Image, and an essential part of image for any company is how they go to market. With a long history of developing and refining websites, we have come to realize that so many companies have websites that do nothing but draw away your resources acting like a pig as they take and give nothing in return” stated Scott Fenwick, Image’s Marketing Officer. “We have the expertise to help and we want you to maximize the value of these websites, and all your marketing efforts so that you “TASTE THE BACON” instead of “feed the pig!”

Although the neighboring booths were initially taken aback by the barnyard sounds of this noisy, yet colorful mascot, it wasn’t long before curiosity turned to smiles from the many spectators. Every passerby stared and smiled as Chubby randomly snorted his friendly oinks. Few could ignore him for the originality and friendliness in an ocean of serious corporate displays. Those who were curious enough to ask “what does this pig have to do with business” were told of the website wasteland and the conversation shifted to ways of bringing value to their website, something they had thought to be useless.

In the end, Image Interactive will be remembered. Not only as the “booth with the pig,” but also as an organization that offers solutions and has fun doing so. Image successfully overcame its’ late entry and offered all who attended, a comical moment and a practical business solution.
